Pearcedale is a small town located in Victoria, Australia. The town is situated around 49 km southeast of Melbourne's central business district and about 17 km northeast of Frankston. The Bunurong people are the traditional landowners of the Pearcedale region. The Bunurong people have inhabited the region for thousands of years and were known for their intricate basket weaving and stone tool making skills. Their rich cultural heritage is evident in the various rockart sites found around the Pearcedale region. Pearcedale was first settled by Europeans in the early 1840s, with the construction of the McClelland family homestead. The McClelland family was one of the first European settler families in the Pearcedale region. The town of Pearcedale was officially established in 1889, and during this time, the town was primarily a farming community. The town's name was derived from John Pearce, who was one of the early settlers in the Pearcedale region. John Pearce and his wife were known to be quite involved in the community, and they even donated land for the construction of a Methodist church in Pearcedale.
